In June 2020, while at a Black Lives Matter protest, I encountered a horseriding group out of Houston known as Non-Stop Riderz: https://www.instagram.com/nonstop_riderz. I was inspired by their display, so I reached out and offered to create for them some bone art in gratitude. They accepted! I found this beautiful bison skull on ebay, and I knew he was PERFECT for this project! :)
I am SO pleased with how the Black Power fist looked extending from the snout of the bison.
I'm very pleased with how the plaque turned out! Here I was taking the measurements.
I added more details, including paint details, yarn wrapping, and wire wrapping.

I wanted to build horns onto the skull - bone is very porous, so it accepts apoxie sculpt very well.
Here was the next step.
Apoxie takes 24 hours to cure, so it took a total of three days to create these horns.
I painted the horns to resemble shiny horn sheaths. :)
